ABOUT LORD BUDDHA

Lord Buddha, is regarded as the founder of Buddhism. His followers are referred to as Buddhists. Gautama Buddha is also commonly referred to as Buddha, which means an enlightened one who has attained freedom from the state of suffering and ignorance, having attained the state of nirvana.

 

Gautama Buddha, also known as Siddhartha Gautama and Lord Buddha, was born in 563 BCE in the part of India which is now Nepal, Buddha was a prince of the Shakyas. The head of the Shakya clan, was Suddhodana, his father, while his mother Maya was a Koliyan princess. Buddha enjoyed a luxurious life. And he was not known to the outside world and human sufferings. After 29 years he got a glimpse of the real. In the streets of Kapilvastu, Buddha came across an old man, a sick man and a corpse.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arr. Delhi (No Meal)

Welcome on arrival, Meet & assist, transfer to Hotel. O/N at a hotel in Delhi.

Day 02: Delhi – Varanasi (B) (By Flight)

Breakfast at hotel. Timely transfer to airport to catch the flight for Varanasi. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Overnight at a hotel in Varanasi.

Day 03: Full Day at Varanasi (B)

Early morning boat ride on Holy River the Ganges with picturesque view of sun rise, Visit the Most Famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple and other Temples of Varanasi. Cover Annapurna Temple, Kaal Bhairav Temple, After Breakfast Visit BHU (Banaras Hindu University), We will have An Excursion to Sarnath, Sarnath is the Place Where Lord Buddha Delivered His First Sermon At Deer Park. The Tourist Attractions at Sarnath are the Buddha Temples, Dhamekha Stupa and the Archaeological Museum. Overnight Stay at a hotel in Varanasi.

Day 04: Varanasi – Bodhgaya (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Bodhgaya. On arrival transfer to hotel. In the evening proceed to visit Mahabodhi Temple – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an ancient, but restored Buddhist temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India, marking the location where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. Overnight stay at a hotel in Bodhgaya.

Day 05: Full Day at Bodhgaya (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed for full day tour to Bodhgaya visit Mahabodhi Temple, Sujata Village, Niranjana River. After lunch excursion to Dungeshwari Hill, The place, where Lord Buddha spent 6 years before getting enlightenment at Bodhgaya. Overnight at a hotel in Bodhgaya.

Day 06: Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Rajgir (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Nalanda, visit the ruins of Ancient University – The Nalanda archaeological site is spread over a large area to the northwest of Bargaon (Nalanda) village, and is between the historical manmade lakes Gidhi, Panashokar and Indrapuskarani. & Black Buddha – Black symbolizes killing and anger as well as primordial darkness. Fierce deities are often rendered in black in order to

signify the darkness of hate and ignorance as well as the role that these qualities have to play in the awakening of clarity and truth. After visit drive to Rajgir. Visit Gridhkutta – This is one of the most ancient sites where the Buddha is said to have preached his Lotus Sermon. Quite true to the meaning of its name as Vulture Peak indeed the peak appears as a shape of vulture head with a natural stone formation, Venuvanaram – The place is regarded as the first gifted-place to the Buddha by Bimbisar once got to the Buddha by Bimbisara, the king of Magadha at the time. Bimbisar Prison – Bimbisar Jail offers a beautiful view of Gridhakutta Hill as well as the Japanese Pagoda. He was a staunch disciple of Lord Gautam Buddha who was imprisoned by his son Ajatshatru. It is said his son asked him to choose an option for his imprisonment and he choose a spot from where he could see Lord Buddha. Overnight stay at a hotel in Rajgir.

Day 07: Rajgir – Vaishali (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Vaishali. Visit Ashokan Pillar – Emperor Ashoka built The Lion Pillar at Kolhua. It is made of a highly polished single piece of red sandstone, surmounted by a bell shaped capital, 18.3 m high. A life-size figure of a lion is placed on top of the pillar. There is a small tank here known as Ramkund, Relic stupa – Buddha Relic Stupa, enshrining one of the eight parts of the mortal remains of Lord Buddha after he attained Mahaparinirvana, is one of the most revered sites for Buddhists and a protected one for Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Coronation Tank – it is a tank bordered by a lovely variety of shrubs and flowering trees. The tank was considered to be holy in the olden days and all of Vaishali’s representatives were expected to take a dip in the tank before they were sworn in. On arrival Vaishali, transfer to Hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Vaishali.

Day 08: Vaishali – Kushinagar (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Kushinagar. Enroute visit Kesariya, The largest Buddhist stupa of the world. Kesariya came into the limelight after the discovery of biggest ever Buddhist Stupa. Till date it is estimated to be the tallest ever-excavated Stupa in the world. It commands prominent positions in East Champaran from tourism point of view. The stupa is the symbol glorious past of Buddhism era. On arrival, Kushinagar, transfer to Hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kushinagar.

Day 09: Kushinagar – Lumbini (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to visit Mahaparinirvana Temple – The Parinirvana Stupa or Mahaparinirvana Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kushinagar, India which is said to be the place of death of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Alexander Cunningham gains the most attention for his work in the area, because he conclusively proved that Gautama Buddha had died in the area. Ramabhar Stupa – Ramabhar Stupa holds a great religious significance to Buddhists all over the world as it is said that this is the exact spot where Lord Buddha was cremated and got Mahaparinirvana after his death in 483 BC. The stupa was constructed by the Malla Kings who ruled over Kushinagar when Buddha was alive. Drive to Lumbini. Please Drive to Lumbini after clearing immigration formalities. On arrival check in to hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Lumbini.

Day 10: Lumbini – Sravasti Enroute visit Kapilvastu (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to visit the Holy Birth Place of Lord Buddha, Maya Dewi Temple – an ancient Buddhist temple situated at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lumbini, Nepal. It is the main temple at Lumbini, a site traditionally considered the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. The temple stands adjacent to a sacred pool and a sacred garden. Ashokan Pillar – The Ashoka Pillar in Lumbini is one of the 3rd-century stone pillars built under the reign of Emperor Ashoka. It was erected as a mark of respect by Ashoka after he visited Lord Buddha’s place of birth and decided to accept Buddhism. Drive to Sravasti. On arrival Sravasti, transfer to Hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Sravasti.

Day 11: Sravasti – Lucknow (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Proceed to visit Jetvanaram – Jetavana was one of the most famous of the Buddhist monasteries or viharas in India. It was the second vihara donated to Gautama Buddha after the Venuvana in Rajgir. The monastery was given to him by his chief male patron, Anathapindika. Jetavana is located just outside the old city of Savatthi, Ananda Bodhi tree & Angulimal Caves – Stupa of Angulimal, in Sravasti, India. It is identified with the remains of the Angulimal Stupa as seen by the Chinese Pilgrims in 500 AD. Locally known as Pakki Kuti. This is a small passage within the stupa, Angulimal gufa. Drive to Lucknow, on arrival check in to hotel. Evening Free for leisure. Overnight stay at Lucknow.

Day 12: Lucknow – Agra Enroute visit Sankissa (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Sankissa, proceed to visit the place where Lord descended from heaven after giving sermon to his mother after 7 years of her death. Drive continue to Agra. On arrival check in to hotel. Proceed to visit Taj Mahal (Closed on Friday) – The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum on the right bank of the river Yamuna in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was commissioned in 1631 by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. Agra Fort – Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. The Agra fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal. Overnight stay at a hotel in Agra.

Day 13: Agra – Delhi (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Delhi. On arrival proceed to visit India Gate- at the centre of the city (42 meter, high stone arch) is a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers who fought & died in the campaign of world war-1 & Afghan war, National War Memorial – The memorial wall is flushed with the ground and in harmony with existing aesthetics, It was completed in January 2019 and unveiled on 25 February 2019 in an inauguration ceremony. There are 4 major chakra are Amar, Veerta, Tyag, Rakshak President House- built in 1929, once the Imperial residence of the British Viceroys and now official residence of the President of Indian Republic, Parliament House – this circular shaped building houses the two houses of Parliament- The Lok Sabha (lower) & Rajya Sabha (Upper). Its domed central hall is 90 feet in diameter. Dinner at local restaurant. Then transfer to hotel & Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 14: Delhi – Dept. (B)

Morning after breakfast enjoy the guided visit of Old Delhi covering Jama Mosque – the largest mosque in India built in red sandstone. Between the mosque and Chandni Chowk is a narrow shop-lined street along which you will be transported by cycle rickshaws on your most photogenic journey of the tour. Drive pass the Red Fort. Parliament and residence of the President House of India in New Delhi. While driving back to New Delhi visit Raj Ghat – a memorial that is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The Ghat is located in the banks of River Yamuna. It is a black marble platform that is built at the spot of cremation of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. Afternoon visit to 72 meter high Qutub Minar; being one of the most important landmarks of Delhi, with calligraphically decorated interiors and also inscriptions of verses of the Holy Quran. Then visit local market for shopping. Later transfer to Airport to board flight towards onward destination.
